As happened in 2016, Merseyrail Electrics will be operating limited stop services on Boxing Day, 26 December 2017. Many intermediate stations will be closed, giving an unusual opportunity to time some "fastish" runs. For example, the Liverpool South Parkway - Southport services will call only at Liverpool Central, Sandhills, Waterloo, Formby & Birkdale.

Note that on the Chester line, only Liverpool to Hooton will be open. Trains will call at Liverpool Central, James St., Birkenhead Central, Rock Ferry, Bromborough & Hooton.
