Electric services begin on the Gospel Oak - Barking Line this week!
378232 has been shortened to 4-car and will work with the remaining 2-car Class 172 DMUs.
Two more Capitalstar EMUs to be converted and Class 710s still months from service.

I travelled the length of the Gospel Oak to Barking line - a single return run this weekend aboard the Class 378. Wet rails meant that drivers were taking it cautiously. Some are still under instruction.
On the 45mph sections of track the '378' hits line speed in 20 to 25 seconds compared to 45 or 50 seconds for the '172's.

Most station to station timings achieved were a shade off beating our current Ft's..but i did manage a single FT along the way - memory fails me as to which section it was - so will add the detail later.

Note that stopping positions have changed for both the Class 172s and the Class 378, which does mean some station to station distances are therefore longer than before - and of course any previous fastest times may not be directly comparable. Westbound the '378' starts the equivalent of 2 coaches further up the platforms at Barking, Leytonstone, Walthamstow, Blackhorse Road, and Upper Holloway. That likely means the Barking to Woodgrange Road and Upper Holloway to Gospel Oak section distances are shorter.

Eastbound the trains stop at least 2 coaches further down the platforms at Crouch Hill, Harringay Green Lanes, South Tottenham, Leyton Midland Road, Wanstead Park and Woodgrange Road.
