North Briton demise? - Posted: June 14, 2021 - 11:38 AM Quote and reply
A look through the proposed LNER May 2022 timetable reveals the end of the time-honoured early morning Leeds to Scotland service currently running as the (untitled) 0708 Leeds to Aberdeen. The name North Briton has been used on and off in recent years when it was formed by an HST off Neville Hill, but since their withdrawal an Azuma has had to run from Doncaster ECS to form the service. There will be an equivalent service to Aberdeen north of York starting at 0548 from the Cross.
There are no proposed booked LNER trains from Leeds to York and v.v. in the t/t but if pre-Covid normality returns both XC and TPE will provide hourly Leeds-Edinburgh through trains.
The Saturday Skipton to Kings Cross via Hambleton curve is to run via Wakefield, however maybe, the last train of the day from the Cross is booked that way.
