Cl 800 cracks: "Trains wrecked by saltwater" - Posted: September 10, 2021 - 12:46 PM Quote and reply
Today's Daily Mail headline quotes from an "interim report" on cl 800 cracking causes by the Office of Rail and Roads. "The root cause will not be decided until December" but it's quoting that trains " may have been vulnerable to being damaged by salt containing substances". The Mail then reminds us of where Dawlish is in relation to sea water and quotes from the report "The specific corrosive environment for the (aluminium) alloy is considered to be endemic in the UK, arising from high humidity, rain and seawater exposure". That's it.....
