Greater Anglia ran a special 1205 London to Norwich non-stop run today that appears to have acheieved a time very close to the 83 minute 22 second record achieved in May 1987.
The run was a specially timetabled service returning the stock back to Norwich which had formed the 09:26 Norwich to Liverpool Street Footex.
Realtime trains reports the train as departing at 12:04:30 and arriving at 13:27:15 - which would suggest a time faster than the record.

Raildar reports a departure of 12:04:39 and arrival of 13:27:21 - suggesting a run time of 82 mins 42 seconds. The non-stop performance is understood to have been 'monitored' by staff of the TOC.

I have received an outline log (times not speeds) at 22 intermediate points from someone on board. The time appears to be a reliable 82m 10s therefore a new record and without excesses I believe. JH
