With the upgrade of the Preston to Blackpool line next winter details of the closures have been announced. From 11th November 2017 to 26th January 2018 Blackpool North & South to Preston will be closed. From 27th January 2018 to 25th March 2018 Blackpool South to Preston will reopen but the line to Blackpool North will remain closed. 26th March 2018 the line to Blackpool North will reopen for diesels only. Electrics will commence running through from Manchester from 25th May, 2018.
