Just a reminder that both the Bolton station area and the Walsall-Rugeley line will be train-less from this weekend to that 2 weeks following.

BOLTON CLOSURE EXTENDED - Posted: August 25, 2017 - 3:03 PM Quote and reply
Northern services through Bolton will not resume on Monday 28 August following the latest improvement works. The current replacement bus timetable will continue to operate for the foreseeable future, due to further work that is required as a result of a burst water main and subsequent damage to a railway bridge near Moses Gate.

Information on replacement buses can be found here. The situation is subject to change, please check before you travel.

The railway line between Bolton and Manchester will remain closed for w/c 28 August and it is anticipated that a reduced train service will be in place for the following two weeks. A revised timetable for trains from Bolton to Blackburn and Clitheroe is also in place.

BOLTON TO REOPEN EARLY - Posted: August 31, 2017 - 6:33 PM Quote and reply
Railway through Bolton to fully reopen next week

Passengers will be able to travel by train between Bolton and Manchester next week when the line reopens early after a burst water main caused major damage to a bridge.

The Moses Gate railway bridge, near Bolton, was badly damaged on 17 August when the burst pipe caused a section of it to collapse onto the railway below and created a hole in the road above.

Thanks to a carefully executed repair programme and round-the-clock working, the line is due to fully reopen on Wednesday 6 September.
