Occasionally nominally freight/charter trains only lines are thrust into the limelight as was the case with Adwick to Hatfield & Stainforth line during the Doncaster floods late last year.
Following a lineside fire at Earlestown yesterday Northern's Liverpool to Manchester service is being re-routed from Huyton via St Helens to Ince Moss Jn, just short of Wigan, and over the W-S curve to Bamfurlong Jn and onwards via the WCML to Golbourne/Parkside Jn to regain its normal route.
