Mike Notley says in the latest Steam Railway and Bittern's 90mph runs on the ECML
"And there it remained for the next 15 miles (that is 90mph), the first six had me wondering if the two GPS's had locked up as they stuck rigidly to 90.7 mph.
If my GPS (Garmin) is stuck on 90.7 mph that means that it has lost signal from the satelites. If below 100 mph the figure after the decimal point moves up & down so I know it is still locked onto the signal.
Any comments from members appreciated.

I'm not sure if Notters has ever revealed what make of GPS he uses. My experience with the Edge was that it maintained a decimal point speed more than my 60CSx ever does but the chances of Bittern maintaining a constant speed over such a distance seem extremely unlikely. Over to the experts...

If my Garmin GPS signal is lost for more than 30 seconds, the speed reading disappears.
