Many years ago I travelled behind 33022 from Bristol Temple Meads, the 15.14 departure to Portsmouth Harbour, as far as Bathampton Loop where it was declared a complete failure. 47143 was despatched from Bath Road and hauled the train, with the failed 33, from Bathampton to Salisbury. The coaching stock load from Bristol was 8/263/265. So could I head up the log from Bathampton like this or is there some other protocol I could follow? 15.14 Bristol Temple Meads-Portsmouth Harbour 47143 with failed 33022 8/263/265 2.4.83 Bathampton Loop 0.00 etc etc Any thoughts would be appreciated. If something similar happened to me, I would show the 33 as the train loco, but include a note - loco failed, piloted by the 47 from Bathampton Loop. Bevan Price |

I think the most important thing is to include all relevant information - how to do it is a matter of personal preference. Bevan, Thanks for replying. The thing that now bothers me in my example is that not only did the 47 have 8 Mk1 coaches to haul it also had an extra 78 tons of dead 33 to drag along. So should I record 8/263/265 or 8/341/343 or 9/341/343 as the trailing load from Bathampton? Obviously if both locos were under power it would be the first one hence my uncertainty. Nigel. |
