Who says the HSTs are past it?. Time of 12 min 53 seconds.
The train was an ex-Grand Central HST set comprised of 2 buffer fitted power cars plus 6 coaches. Due to delays between ST Pancras and Cricklewood, the train ended up departing Luton Airport Parkway 10 minutes late. What followed was a storming performance -
0 to 60mph in 69 seconds,
0 to 100mph in 3 min 11 seconds.
0 to 125mph in 4 min 50 seconds. Sustained 125mph running throughout. Weather - Sunny, dry but cool.

Comparing the data with the fastest Class 222 run of 12 min 24 sec from July 2015, the HST was only 5 or 6 seconds behind all the way to Millbrook, but the majority of time was lost by a more conservative approach and stop.
Nevertheless - more than 1.5 minutes faster than the fastest RPS HST recorded time of 13 mins 58 sec.
