Via LNER wifi, just passed Beattock Summit in 32m 35s from Carlisle.

On the way back now , 15.42 is 801.108+800.204 so Carisle Newcastle may ne a bit more interesting.

Like the Harrogate Line the speed limits are very low, especially uphill to Naworth, but it's all downhill (mostly) from there of course. Still, a desperate bit of rostering, but not for you!

Ironically did Beattock summit from Carlisle in 32m13s one year ago on 23 Sept 2019 aboard 800106, but feels so slow comparison with the 28min30secs aboard 390 107 a week or so ago!!

The Azuma will be limited to 110 mph being non tilt, in tilt mode the 390's are limited to 125 mph.

Yes, I'm well aware of that - in fact the 110mph sections are quite short - mainly 100mph for non-tilt stock at the moment.
The Pendolino ride is smoother and quieter too!!

Carlisle to Glasgow / Edinburgh non EPS - Posted: September 26, 2020 - 3:10 PM Quote and reply
My only Azuma time to Beattock summit from Carlisle is 32m13s.
My fastest non EPS run Carlisle to Beattock summit is currently 31m34s aboard a Class 221 with tilt isolated and running 9 minutes late starting from Carlisle - so plenty of incentive for a flat out run.
