TPE 802s/Miles Platting/class 769 - Posted: May 10, 2021 - 8:02 PM Quote and reply
Amazingly nearly 10 months since I'd last gone from Leeds to Manchester via Diggle. Despite the dire news regarding the cl 8xx, and prepared to catch the 0907, the 0915 was a class 802. Others were seen during the day. 74 mph max at Slaithwaite.

Good progress has been made with the remodelling of Miles Platting curve with the concrete abutments over Miles Platting Road in position on the inside of the curve and the formation extended outwards beyond to the east; completion due July/August from memory. Some capped metal mast foundations visible on Miles Platting Bank.

Although I've seen nothing in the Notices, a sign on platforms 4/5 at Manchester Victoria showed a changeover point for bi or is it tri mode (?) class 769s to switch to electric power as far as "Salford".
