Class 387s to Bristol Parkway - Posted: July 2, 2021 - 4:46 PM Quote and reply
The cracking issues with class 800/802 IETs has seen some 387s borrowed from C2C to cover Newbury services, with Turbos connecting to Bedwyn, and a pair of GWR's own 387s used on main line services from Paddington to Bristol Parkway.

I had my first run with 387s west of Didcot today, on the 12.12 ex Paddington. Unchecked run produced the following start to stop times:

RDG - DID 11m 48s
DID - SWI 15m 49s
SWI - BPW 22m 24s

Fast starts and 110 mph reached with ease on each section.

So lost around a minute on each leg compared with a typical IET run, but the easy schedule meant waiting time at Didcot and Swindon.
